Spontaneous Cold Weather Relief in Northern India

Spontaneous Cold Weather Relief in Northern India – January 2025

Sometimes, it takes little planning – just the courage to act spontaneously. That’s exactly what Michael and Alexandra did in January 2025: They flew to India for three days to provide much-needed warmth relief.

Back in November, Alexandra and Frank had already purchased over 1,300 blankets. Since it wasn’t cold enough at night, they were stored with our friend Sunny. However, with the sudden drop in temperatures in January, it became clear that the time had come.

Together with Sunny and his friends – whom the team has been working closely with for many years – the distribution began. Late at night, usually after midnight, the team would set out. This was the best time to identify those in greatest need: people sleeping on the streets without protection from the cold. Michael captured the handovers with heartfelt photos, documenting many moving moments.

On the second night, rain even began to fall – a surreal mix of cold, darkness, and compassion that will stay with the team for a long time. During the day, there was barely enough time for a few hours of rest at the hotel. After three intense days filled with experiences, the team flew back to Germany – and back into everyday life.

A film about this special journey will be released soon – we look forward to sharing it with you.
