Support for the Needy in Romania
Romania October 2025
For more than ten years, FriendCircle WorldHelp e.V. has been supporting aid projects in Romania, especially in small villages and rural areas. Although the country has made progress in several areas, the situation remains difficult for many people. Older individuals and single parents in particular struggle with very low pensions and incomes, while prices for food and energy have risen to nearly the same level as in Central Europe. For many, everyday life has become a heavy burden.
This is where the organisation’s support comes in: time and again, the focus is on medical treatments, essential medication, or covering electricity debts when there is genuine need. A cornerstone of this work is the Granny Project, through which around 80 grandmothers receive a food package each month. Additionally, a youth center is supported, offering local children and teenagers a reliable space for learning and spending time together.
While the projects are continuously coordinated from Germany, personal contact on site remains indispensable. Only through regular visits can the team ensure that everything is running well and individual cases can be assessed and supported directly.
Since there had already been many missions this year but no trip to Romania had yet been possible, it was particularly valuable that Benno and Tina were able to free up time spontaneously at the end of October. Their days on site were filled from morning until evening: visiting case after case, listening attentively, carefully assessing each situation, and implementing necessary decisions immediately. Through their dedication, a great deal could be achieved in a short time — personally, directly, and with heartfelt commitment.
