Support in mountain villages in Nepal

Nepal March 2024

Our friend Alfred reports on the latest activities in Nepal - to be continued:

After about 4 days, Mingmar arrived at over 3000 m.a.s.l. in the mountains of the TSUM valley in the Manaslu region. He and his porters had to walk up for about 3 days with all their luggage. This morning he arrived safely at the first of two schools. The children were already in great anticipation. Some of the pants were still too big for the younger children, but they will grow into them, just like we used to...

...After my Sherpa friend had already brought great joy to 290 children in the TSUM valley in week 8 when he distributed the school bags and school sportswear, he set off again for the TSUM valley last Tuesday. The last trip was already arduous, but nothing compared to this current transportation of a 70 kg oil mill. They took the same route from Kathmandu to MachhaKhola. They then arrived in CHUMLING on foot after three days over rough terrain. He also brought warm jackets for the 50 teachers, as it is often below freezing in the mountains.

AFTERNOTE:

In March 2024, a FriendCircle WorldHelp team traveled to the Tsum Valley, Nepal, for a second time.
This time, our friends carried a 70-kilo oil mill through the mountains.
The tour lasted six days.
The mill will enable the villagers to press their own mustard seeds into oil.
This in turn helps them to become more independent and boost their local economy...

After almost four days, our friend Mingmar and his two helpers have arrived at over 3000 meters above sea level in the mountains of the TSUM valley in the Manaslu region, northwest of the Nepalese city of Kathmandu.
During three days, they carried all the luggage for a total of eight schools on their shoulders.
In these remote areas, most people are poor and are particularly happy to receive presents.
The three of them even had balloons with them...
.
The little ones shyly accept the school outfits and school bags.
Here and there a pair of pants is still a little too big, but that will change as they grow :-)
.
The teachers were also given warm winter jackets.
Spring is coming to Nepal.
